Historic Name:
Description: This site provides one of the most striking examples of Circles architectural change over time. The vine-covered brick wall is the physical marker of four lots which was once a landmark estate property. The original estate home was a European Chalet style house with an attached greenhouse. At one time, the property included polo grounds, a pool and one of the oldest buildings in the neighborhood ¢ï¿½ï¿½ which was later converted to a separate home (703 York). The first home was built by the Reiser family, later owned by a Hertz senior executive and then held by the Smithson family for nearly fifty years. The property was redeveloped in recent years. It evolved to the current home which continues to preserve the history of its Chalet style roofline in the front/left side elevation.
